Changes below are measured from the same vehicle centerline. More inner clearance means the inner tire edge moves away from the vehicle center.

How the measurements work

Positive offset moves the wheel inward; negative offset moves it outward. A spacer reduces effective offset by its thickness. Backspacing is measured from the wheel mounting face to the inner wheel lip, including the lip allowance above.

Track width = axle WMS width + two spacers − two wheel offsets. Outside tire width = track width + tire section width. The inner tire gap = track width − tire section width. Each setup assumes a centered axle, identical left and right wheels, and straight wheels with zero camber.

Metric tire diameter = wheel diameter × 25.4 + 2 × section width × aspect ratio ÷ 100, in millimeters. Inch sizes use the diameter and section width you enter. Ride-height change is half the diameter change.

These are nominal dimensions. Actual tire diameter and width vary with the tire model, wheel width, pressure, and load. Changing wheel width alone does not change the nominal tire width in this model. The diagrams do not measure available fender, suspension, or brake clearance.
